Dance with the Stars

Updated: Aug 9

The pilgrimage destination for the Camino de Santiago is the Cathedral of Santiago

de Compostela. Compostela means "field of stars".

I can't get enough of reading books about the Camino de Santiago. They are all so interesting, thought-provoking and fun.

The book I am currently reading is "To the Field of Stars" by Kevin A Codd and I am loving it!

At one point in the book, he speaks of dancing stars. and I'm going to quote him here because it is so beautiful and true.

And perhaps it will explain my desire to walk another 500+ miles on this Camino.

"What is urging us forward on this road is the longing to see real stars again. In a world filled to the gills with a billion meters of twisting and turning neon tubing and trillions of flashing and winking liquid crystal diodes and only God and Sony know how many zillion television sets, casting their phantomish blue light throughout every room of every house, we want to turn off the switch on it all, click, if even just for a minute or two, so that we might look up, blink, and then behold in the night sky above our heads, a single real star. We want to see there one little sign that there is more to us than just us."

He goes on to say "To witness all this, to see the stars dance, to dance with them ourselves, this is what attracts us, this is what has grabbed us by our souls, and this is what is pulling us down this crazy road."

My heart lights up like a star every time I read this.

I hope these words light up your heart too.

I definitely feel my soul being pulled to walk down this crazy road!
